Where is the money going?
This round of fundraising is dedicated to our first steps with the Calhau community. With support from the Municipality, we’ll begin operations at the Community Center; starting with a special day to celebrate the beginning of our relationship and introduce SOLM to Calhau. These funds will support the launch of SOLM, the general maintenance and improvement of the space, as well as our first set of activities to bring the center to life and build awareness around SOLM and its upcoming projects. We are working with local artists and mentors to support the reactivation of the community center. We will be co-creating a mural and ceramics art installation as well as hosting live music and ceramics workshops during the opening of our activities.

From paint and brushes, to cleaning supplies, shelves and work tables we are supplying everything needed for memorable start in Calhau.

Ensuring we have a dedicated team means we provide all the resources they need to implement our programs, including notebooks, transport, communications stipends and SOLM t-shirts.

You can’t celebrate community, with out food! We are working with two members of the community to prepare a homemade feijoada cooked on live fire, and accompanied by frango assado (grilled chicken). We will also provide natural juice and tea. During our smaller activities snacks and water will also be provided.

These are costs associated with operating our first activities, primarily attributed to transport such as bringing materials, tools and stakeholders to and from Calhau. We will also be providing childcare as needed.

Development and distribution of communication materials. This covers our design time, publishing and printing.
